News

We at AVA are in the process of negotiating our funding contracts with the local authorities and are seeking further external funding. During this period we are still delivering an excellent service to our clients. Last year we worked with 170 vulnerable people within Aylesbury Vale area.  For more information please click on the performance report.

AVA has gone into partnership with Age UK Bucks, Peoples Voices and Talkback to ensure joint partnership working within the Bucks County Council area. We are the Bucks Advocacy Partnership (BAP) and will be able to smoothly refer those whose issues can be better served by the other organisations.

We have also started joint working with the Vale of Aylesbury Housing Trust and are conducting fortnightly housing surgeries where their tenants who are also our clients can have their issues addressed with an advocate present.  It has proved fairly successful, with tenants/clients being able to get their problems sorted out quickly. This gives a more efficient way of delivering an excellent advocacy service for vulnerable tenants/clients and cuts down the resources spent by both organisations.

Joint organisational working with other community organisations will ensure that we can better serve our clients whilst regarding the independent nature of our service. We speak up for our clients and represent their wishes and will continue to do so within our joint working.

Volunteer
Whether you’re in work, a student, a full-time mum or retired, taking on the role of a Volunteer Advocate can be a very rewarding experience. There are no special qualifications or experience needed to become a volunteer.

We may be able to help you
Depending on the nature of your problem, you will be helped either by one of our trained Coordinators or one of our Volunteers. Normally we would prefer to see you at our offices in the centre of Aylesbury but in some circumstances it might be appropriate to meet at a neutral venue or even in your home.
